The Qualicare story
Qualicare has a specific calling, which is, the offering of continuity of care to patients and their families on a comprehensive scale – in a unified approach that addresses the medical, social, familial, psychological, and economic facets of illness.
Qualicare’s guiding light was Bernard “Nardy” Nathanson, who was Wayne’s (the president and co-founder's) father. Nardy’s prolonged bout with Lou Gehrig’s disease (ALS) was complicated by an entangled medical bureaucracy that disrupted his care and treatment. The systemic difficulties struck Nardy and his family as unnerving and unnecessary.
Through his challenging journey with this progressive disease (ALS), the complexities of long-term illness and requirements for a vast amount of healthcare knowledge were recognized. This battle helped germinate the idea that has become Qualicare today. A service that families can rely on to help ease the stresses associated with getting excellent homecare or comprehensive support, while in a hospital or nursing home.
When the senior Nathanson passed away in 1999, a special candle was lit. Wayne, a successful businessman – and Andrea, a Registered Nurse, were determined to replace the anguish of patients and their families in similar situations with ease and compassion.
Dedication
Bernard ("Nardy") Nathanson 1927-1999
While battling Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), Nardy's demand for excellence in quality care, as well as his hope and determination to explore all options, became the guiding principles and the foundation for Qualicare.
Where once there was nowhere to turn for such insightful guidance and thorough, dedicated homecare, now there is Qualicare.
